RETREAT:  SEPTEMBER 7th TO 16th 2009

WHAT IS THIS?  (IMOKO)

This is like

the meticulously clean floor of the meditation hall

not a speck of dust alight

but buzzing flies pass the time

tickling, teasing, testing your patience

This is like

the kite soaring

meowing like a kitten

carried along the currents

serene elegant undisturbed

This is like

playing with water in the

food bowl with your fingers

what is there to stop you

dipping in your toes?

This is like

the tears welling up in my eyes

I heard yesterday

my mother had breast cancer

and my son passed his driving test

This is like the unbearable pain in my knees

where is it?

How did it come and where did it go?

This is like

the sun disk in my tantien

radiating wholesome energy

shining softly tenderly

caressing tingling soothing

This is like

the morning mist

covering the valley

reminding me

that great benefit

to all beings

generated by keeping the precepts

and coming on retreat.
